Keeping your wines at just the right drinking temperatures—it’s a great dilemma. Too cold and it could mask the vintner’s uniquely crafted complexities. Too warm and the flavors may take a back seat to the alcohol. The answer to this perplexity? Corkcicle.
The Corkcicle surprised me when I received it. I expected a much more complex design, but this was simple and easy to understand. It really didn’t require any instruction to use. The product is advertised for use on both red and white wines, but I was only able to test it out on white – not much of a red drinker here. I think it performed really well in keeping the white wine chilled.
I really enjoyed that this product did exactly what it advertised and wasn’t complicated. All that was required was switching out the original cork with the frozen Corkcicle and we were set! The only major downside I could see for this product would be if your wine bottle had an odd shaped opening. The Corkcicle is not really adjustable to fit different openings so it wouldn’t be very useful in that case. I’ve only seen this on a rare bottle, so I doubt that it would affect many people. Despite that one issue, I thought this was a great product. I look forward to seeing if this works as successfully on a red wine – keeping it at cellar temperature.
The Corkcicle is available online at their website. Sold in single or 3-packs and also has a rack to hold them in your freezer (in case you don’t want to just lay it in there!).
