Summary:
My little grand-daughter game me the impetus to write my first book, “Manners Are Free.” I feel strongly that manners are very important throughout life, and they seem to have fallen by the wayside. It’s never too early to teach children manners, and what better way than to read them a book that is fun and also begins the process of teaching them basic manners.
Our Thoughts:
Manners Are Free by M.B. Jones is a delightful and informative children’s book with full page pictures. The message of the book is very clear and that is that it is never to early to start teaching your children manners. I was really excited to read this book to my son because manners are something that we take very seriously in our house and my son constantly needs to be reminded despite our efforts. M.B. Jones wrote Manners Are Free it in a way that children will understand which is great! I really like the book is written in rhyme however some of the lines are stretched and drawn out in order to make them rhyme. It made it a little hard to read but my son didn’t even notice.
My son really enjoyed the book. He stayed focused throughout it all and when we talked about it afterwards, he was able to tell me when to say please or excuse me and various other manners. He also said that he really liked the book and that he would like me to read it to me again.
Overall we both enjoyed the book and it will definitely be read again in our house.

I really liked concept of this book. Teaching children with rhymes and this type of book is fun and easy. I also liked title of book very much.
I am a step mom to two boys who are 9 and 12 and I am STILL instilling manners on a daily basis. It is never too late or too early to remind them consistently that being polite involves using your manners and if they don’t use them they don’t get acknowledged until they do.
I completely agree. We all know that kids forget sometimes but the best way to remind them is repetition keep at it, they’ll get it :D
Wow this a great book to share with your family. Especially today!
I agree with you 100%, manners from ‘others’ have truly fallen by the wayside.
At the school where I work (a private school) we are constantly reinforcing manners and how important they.
I’m a stickler for manners and I make sure my daughter is always using manners, especially when she’s not in my presence. If I hear that she has acted up…it’s a punishment of some sort. Whether it be no DS game or no Squinkies.
I think I’ll pick up this book for the school library where I work and encourage the Kindergartners to check it out. We gotta start ‘em young, huh?
Thank you for alerting me of this book, I appreciate it.

That is a great idea! Any school library would benefit from having this book.
My kids have been taught to use manners, but my daughter is much better at it! I wonder if my son might get the idea if we had this book. Worth a try!

Catch ‘em early and they’ll have good manners for life. Sounds like a great book.
i see many children today who have not been taught the importance of good manners, and having taught children, i know how much better they learn and remember lessons put to rhyme. Thanks for the great review!

Manners are so important!! My Mom did a wonderful job teaching them to me. I think this book sounds fantastic as a intro to manners for young readers. I know my son will love to have me red this to him!
We have this book and my boys like to have it read to them. Manners ate so important and I spend the majority of ny day reminding them. Hopefully if they learn them young, they will use them as adults.
I entered to win this book so I could read it to my grandson. He is at the age to learn more manner. I have taught him to say excuse me and a few other things at a younger age. Manners are a must to have . No a days not many children ( or adults) use them.
I think it shows respect for people when we use our manners. This is a book that should be read in grade schools all over.
