The Best of Caillou: Caillou’s Mysteries and Adventures DVD Review

Every morning in our house is the same. We wake up cuddle on the couch, watch a couple of cartoons, eat breakfast and then go about our day. One show that can never (ever) be missed is Caillou. My son is 3 and he has loved watching Caillou for a long time now. My daughter who is 16 months old now recognizes that its on TV and dances to the theme song. Obviously getting the chance to review the DVD Caillou’s Mysteries and Adventures was something that I could not pass up.

Caillou’s Mysteries and Adventures is part of the Best of Caillou series with 4 episodes including:

– Caillou The Detective
– Caillou The Brave
– Caillou To The Rescue
– Captain Caillou

Each episode contains 3 adventures and games for your child to play with Caillou, true to the shows form. The DVD runs for approx. 100 minutes and boasts some great special features like:

– Game (to be played on the computer)
– Printable Coloring Pages
– Caillou help’s parents too
– Message to parents. About Caillou. How kids relate to Caillou. Is Caillou appropriate for my pre-schooler?

Synopsis:

Join Caillou as he explores everyday life, where ordinary daily events spark his and your child’s imagination. Your child wil be inspired by Caillou’s pretend play, and they will join in the role-playing fun where beds become boats, a garden becomes a jungle, and Caillou and you child can become anything they can imagine.

I remember when I first started watching children’s shows with my kids and I also remember that I didn’t really care for Caillou. The truth is that I really didn’t give the show a chance. Caillou is great for pre-schooler’s. There is a lesson to be learned in almost every adventure helping children learn about overcoming fears, helping others, patience and creativity.

Caillou can teach parents new things too. I personally have used some things from the show to allow my kids more experiences and adventures. Caillou definitely has a lot of adventures. It also reminds me that its the little things that can have the biggest impact.

Overall Caillou’s Mysteries and Adventures was wonderful to share with my kids. I would recommend it for children 1+. It’s insightful, educational and good for the whole family.
