Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream – A Reason to Smile

As a kid, my family and I visited the local ice cream shop once a week during the summer months. I would get a chocolate waffle cone or brownie sundae with two scoops of chocolate ice cream and devour it before I got home. It was the perfect treat to bring a smile to our faces on a hot summer day. This is where my love of chocolate ice cream came from, and then eventually, pralines and cream.

Dreyer's Slow Churned

A few days ago, I was reminded of my love for chocolate ice cream. We always keep our favorite flavors of Dreyer’s Slow Churned ice cream in the deep freezer, but on this particular day, I wanted to try something different. As I was deciding on what flavor to buy, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I loved and missed chocoalte ice cream. I buy it for the kids all the time, but somehow never buy it for myself. Well this time I went for it and gave it a try. I am happy I did because I love it! It’s smooth, creamy and delicious. And best of all it has all the rich and creamy taste of regular ice cream, but half the fat and one-third fewer calories! Who would have thought I could enjoy chocolate ice cream, guilt free. Well not 100% guilt free, I finished it off before the kids or my husband got home. Don’t worry, I’ll share with them next time! Look I managed to snap a picture before I devoured it.

These are the cup sizes, but it was just enough to satisfy my ice cream craving. I had plans to share pictures in my cute ice cream bowl, but it started to melt because of this California heat. It was close to 100 degrees, so it didn’t take me long to remedy the situation. Do you remember earlier when I said ice cream was, “the perfect treat to bring a smile to our faces on a hot summer day?” Well my husband caught me with a big goofy one, as he walked in at the very moment I ate my last spoonful. I was enjoying the moment so much that I forgot to capture my ice cream smile. It’s too bad because I’m sure it would have been a good one.

Now you can have your ice cream and smile about it too!

I LOVE Dreyer’s ice cream! I either get that or Breyers when I don’t make it myself at home. The slow churned is the absolute best! I usually get the chocolate mint :)
