Beer Money Interview with Dani Amore:
If a movie was made about your book, who do you picture playing the lead roles? Why?
The actors would have to love beer. I will set up a casting session at my neighborhood bar as soon as Dreamworks options the book.
Please tell us in 20 words or less, why we should read your book.
It’s a good story, and I buy my fans drinks.
A day job.
What book is on your night stand now?
The Keeper of Lost Souls.
If you could have a first edition signed copy of any novel, what would it be and why?
The Butcher’s Boy, by Thomas Perry. Luckily, I just had all three of the Butcher Boy’s novels signed by Mr. Perry. I am still in awe.
Do you have plans for a new book? Goals for future projects?
Yes, I’m planning the next book in the Burr Ashland series. It’s tentatively called Naked Ale.
Which of your characters is most/least like you, and in what way(s)?
Burr Ashland is very much like me, save for him being of the opposite gender. We both like our work, but usually are keeping an eye on how far away we are from five o’clock and the nearest bar.
At what point in your life did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
When I turned 30 and realized my day job and its attendant career path were both complete wastes of time.
What is your favorite Quote?
“You have a very sick mind.” -a reader who didn’t like one of my books
What do you do to unwind and relax?
Spy on my neighbors.
What’s the last truly great book you read?
A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway.
How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I had a beer by myself in Las Vegas. It was weird. There wasn’t even a dancing girl nearby.
What does your workspace look like?
It’s a spare bedroom over the garage. It’s mostly empty except for my desk because I like to get up, pace, sit down, get up, look out the window, sit down, get up, etc.
Give us a one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Private investigator Burr Ashland investigates the death of his best friend, a Marquette history professor, and soon finds himself in the middle of a complex web involving murder, sex, blackmail and beer – lots and lots of beer.
What genre does your book fall under?
Beer-soaked crime fiction.
Tell everyone where they can go to stay up to date on your latest news!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Thanks for having me. And if you’ve read one of my books and you see me in a bar, I’m buying. That’s my official policy.
MURDER IS ON TAP.
Private investigator Burr Ashland loves two things. His job. And beer.
In the explosive opening to an exciting new mystery series, private investigator Burr Ashland learns that his best friend, a history professor, has been murdered.
Burr is plunged into an investigation that puts him in the middle of a violent struggle not just between the present and the past, but between good and evil.
