Shifty Business Author Olivia HardinWelcome to Shifty Business Author Olivia Hardin! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions about your life and book!

Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement. With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words. She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she’s generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.

Shifty Business Interview with Olivia Hardin:

Do you bake? If so, box or from scratch?
Yes and both from scratch and from a box. If I had more time I’d bake from scratch always, but I just don’t have the time. My grandma had a cake business when I was a kid. I can remember myself and my two sisters in the back of the car each of us holding one tier for a wedding cake and trying desperately not to let them drop! I am lucky enough to have some of her baking items and her recipes and also her to call on when I run into a snag!

Do you have plans for a new book? Goals for future projects?
Ooo! I have so many irons in the fire and I’m so excited about all of them. Right now I’m finishing up a contemporary romance called All for Hope through Hayson Publishing. Right after that I’m going to get back to Tangled Up in Trouble, the second in my MAUCs Series. And then later this year I’ll start the For Love of Fae Trilogy which will continue the story began in the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy! Lots of exciting stuff going on!

How did you come up with the title of the book?
This was the easiest title of all the books in my trilogy. Gerry’s a shifter and she’s all about her career with the Company, so it just made sense… Shifty Business.

Have you ever written anything that you thought would be controversial and found it wasn’t?
Yes, one of my favorite “supporting characters” from one of the previous books leaves us at the end of Shifty Business. I’m not going to lie… I cried a bit, but I know I made the best decision.

If you could get front row tickets to watch any performance live, who would you like to go see?
As long as I can get a front row ticket for me and my mom, we’d go see Train. We had the best time last year going to one of their concerts as a mother/daughter bonding trip. I can’t wait for us to do it again soon!

Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? If so, what did you do about it?
Absolutely! It happens all the time. I usually give myself a breather, then get back to it as soon as I can. I find I have to force myself to work through it and write… even if what I’m writing isn’t any good, priming the pump helps get to the good stuff.

What book are you reading now?
Pressure Point by Charles Colyott. I loved the first book in his Randall Lee Mysteries Series, Changes and I just started this second book. Soooo good!

What were your favorite books as a child?
Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn… I remember I checked it out again and again from the library when I was younger.

Tell everyone where they can go to stay up to date on your latest news!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
No, just thanks so much for interviewing me. I hope your readers will enjoy my trilogy and will look forward to the things I have coming up soon!

  5. Cindy Barton says:

I love your series Bite, Bend, Shift. I think that you could write a story about shifters and a baking operation, just for fun. I loved hearing about you and your sister holding wedding cake tiers.
