Welcome to Take My Heart Author Marie Higgins! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions about your life and book!
Since Marie Higgins was a little girl playing Barbies with her sister, Stacey, she has loved the adventure of making up romantic stories. Marie was only eighteen years old when she wrote her first skit, which won an award for Funniest Skit. A little later in life, after she’d married and had children, Marie wrote Church roadshows that were judged as Funniest and Best Written. From there, she branched out to write full-length novels based on her dreams. (Yes, she says, her dreams really are that silly)
Marie has been married for twenty-six years to a wonderful man. Together, they have three loving daughters and several beautiful grandchildren. Marie works full time for the state of Utah, where she has lived her entire life. Marie plans to keep writing, because the characters in her head won’t shut up. But her husband smiles and pretends this is normal.
Take My Heart Interview with Marie Higgins:
Please tell us in 20 words or less, why we should read your book.
If you love romance, action, intrigue, twists and turns, and an unpredictable ending, then you’ll LOVE reading “Take My Heart”.
If you could have a first edition signed copy of any novel, what would it be and why?
“A Rose In Winter” by Kathleen E Woodiwiss. This was the first romance I ever read.
Did you lose any characters along the way?
Yes, but only the bad guys…
Have you ever written anything that you thought would be controversial and found it wasn’t?
Well, I always worry about any book I write because I know someone out there isn’t going to like it. I just recently published a time-travel romance for Valentine’s Day “Crazy For You”. I’m waiting for the negative reviews to come in… I think readers will either love it or they will hate it. No in-between.
If you could get front row tickets to watch any performance live, who would you like to go see?
Engelbert Humperdinck! I’ve loved him since I was a child. I’ve been to one of his concerts in Wendover, and I would LOVE to have front row seats for another concert. Why? Because he brings one lady up on stage and sings to her. Oh, be still my heart!
What are three words that best describe you?
Humorous, imaginative, cheerful
If you could jump in fairy tale, and live in that world… which would it be?
Actually…that’s why I love to write historical romances. Because then I’m in a fair tale world every time I sit down to write. There is always a handsome prince (or hero), and always a damsel in distress.
Do you skip around, peek at the ending, or do you read straight through a book?
I can’t jump around or skip to the end because then I don’t get caught up in the story or fall in love with the characters. I have to read it straight through. And I hope readers do that will my stories or they might miss something, since I throw twists in my stories!
Give us a one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Switching roles and the pursuit of freedom come together in the hunt to discover who can be trusted and who is really the traitor during the Colonial times.
What genre does your book fall under?
Tell everyone where they can go to stay up to date on your latest news!
My blog and Facebook.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Thank you so much for letting me be with you today. I love these questions!
Take My Heart
Mercedes Maxwell’s sister’s last wish was for Mercedes to find evidence against Kat’s husband, William Braxton, and have him hung as a traitor to the crown. Mercedes isn’t naïve when it comes to capturing traitors, because her own deceased husband had once been an agent for the King when they lived in England.
When she meets William Braxton for the first time, all is not as it seems. Portraying her twin, Mercedes knows this is the only way to get close enough to William to discover his secrets. What she finds along the way are little surprises she hadn’t counted on, especially when she begins to give her heart to a man who may be a spy against the crown.
