Welcome to Tournament of Chance Author S.G. Rogers! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions about your life and book!
Originally from Southern California, S.G. Rogers has lived in Asheville, North Carolina and Laurel, Mississippi. She earned her first black belt in taekwondo from martial arts champion Billy Blanks. Later on, she earned black belts in taekwondo and hapkido from Master Myung Kim. Currently residing in beautiful Savannah, Georgia, S.G. Rogers writes fantasy and romantic fantasy stories. She’s owned by two hairless cats, Houdini and Nikita, and lives on an island populated by exotic birds, deer and the occasional gator. Although she’s most often drawn to speculative fiction, she’s been known to break away to write other genres. Tab is her beverage of choice, but when she imbibes, a cranberry vodka martini doesn’t go amiss.
Tournament of Chance Interview with S.G. Rogers:
Please tell us in 20 words or less, why we should read your book.
“Tournament of Chance” has a plucky heroine, an unpredictable plot, wit, humor, life-threatening danger, and a sexy prince.
Which of your characters is most/least like you, and in what way(s)?
Queen Mara, Dane’s mother, is probably more like me than the other characters. She’s independent, decisive, protective, and will go fight in battle if need be. On the other hand, the queen of Destiny is least like me. She’s shallow, self-centered, snobbish, and meaner than a bag of cats.
If you could get front row tickets to watch any performance live, who would you like to go see?
I’d like to see Michael Flatley in Lord of the Dance. I enjoy his cocksure bravado!
What inspired you to write your first book?
The birth of my son inspired me to write a book about a teen boy with a magical heritage. I wanted my son to have a brave, resourceful role model. That book became “The Last Great Wizard of Yden.” The sequel “Children of Yden” will be released this year, and the final book of the trilogy is “Secrets of Yden.”
I can kick bad guys upside their face with my foot, just like Billy Jack. I can also sing “Honeysuckle Rose” pretty well.
Where do you like to read?
Sitting propped up with pillows in bed, under the covers, with my two cats snuggled underneath my bent knees.
How do you react to a bad review?
Sometimes after reading a zinger, I feel like a slug, sprinkled with salt. I go on Goodreads and look at all the scathing one star reviews my favorite bestselling authors have endured. Then I shrug my shoulders and move on.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you like historical romance, I’m releasing a Victorian romance novella just in time for Valentine’s Day. Look for “The Ice Captain’s Daughter” at Amazon!
