I love Wednesdays! It’s the day of the week that I get to soak up the knowledge that the seniors where I volunteer at are more than willing to pass on. People often ask me why I continue to do it week after week. It’s quite simple. Wisdom is still King or Queen in my book. And these ladies and gentleman have taught me so much that it’s the least that I could do.
The seniors in my group love to snack. So, when I learned that JOLLY TIME teamed up with Smart Balance to create a heart-healthy microwave popcorn, I was thrilled. I knew it would be the perfect snack for our group.

Both varieties are made with 100% whole grains, contain all natural flavors, and are gluten free. So I felt good about sharing this heart healthy microwave popcorn with my group.

As expected, the popcorn was a hit with the entire group. As soon as the smell of the first bag of popcorn filled the room everyone quickly tossed their chips and cheese popcorn aside. It only took about 2 minutes for each bag to completely pop. And to our surprise there were only a few kernels that didn’t pop. This made me very happy, because I can’t stand when kernels get mixed in when I’m eating popcorn.
Both varieties taste great! My personal favorite is the Butter Light because it has less fat and sodium per serving than the Butter. The butter flavor is just right. Not too much or too little. This is exactly what you want from a heart healthy microwave popcorn.
The seniors thought the JOLLY TIME Butter was much more flavorful than the Butter Light, but enjoyed both. They also loved how the popcorn didn’t leave their hands feeling greasy, so it was easy to snack and play bingo at the same time.
Since I was diagnosed with heart failure, I have been trying to find healthier snack options. And now that I’ve found a heart healthy microwave popcorn, I can continue to enjoy one of my favorite snacks with the Kings and Queens of wisdom.
