Who doesn’t love a great tasting bread that is also good for you? I am in love with bread, but my hips don’t love it as much. Recently, I started eating whole wheat bread, but it is so hard to find one that I really like. At least that was the case until I saw Oroweat® Whole Grain 100% Whole Wheat Bread and figured I would give it a try with my Chicken Patties recipe and I am so happy I did. Many thanks to Oroweat® Bread for supplying me with coupons, a gift card and the product information for this post.

Oroweat Whole Grain 100% Whole Wheat Bread is created with only whole grains, and we all know that is an excellent source of fiber. These bountiful slices of bread also do not contain any high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors or flavoring. Is there even another brand of bread that offers the same thing? How could it possibly get any better? Well, each slice contains 21 grams of whole wheat. Let’s just say yum!! The first creation I could not wait to try was this Flavor-Packed Skinny Greek Sandwich. When it says its flavor-packed, boy does it mean flavor packed. Oroweat® Whole Wheat Bread is good inside and out.

Before I get started on how to create this quick and easy sandwich, I’m going to tell you a bit more about how Oroweat got started. Oroweat began making their wholesome goodness in North Hollywood, California in 1932. One small baker started making whole wheat bread during the Great Depression and started delivering them door to door. The business grew quickly and their bread is now available in supermarkets across the western US.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/3 cup shredded pepper jack cheese, divided

1. In a large bowl mash chicken with a fork. Stir together chicken, bread crumbs, onions and all seasonings and set aside.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and milk. Pour wet mixture into bowl with chicken and stir until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes. Then form into 4-6 patties.

4. Serve on toasted bread with a salad, or your favorite fruits and vegetables on the side.

Oroweat comes in many different varieties. A few of my favorites are Steel Cut Oats and Honey and Healthy Multi-Grain. If you live around the western US, visit a local grocery store today and make an amazing sandwich for dinner tonight.
