al fresco has been around since 1994 and been creating great tasting chicken sausage that is also good for your health. At al fresco, they believe that you should not have to pick between food good for you and food that’s good. So, when you buy their products, you get both!
Have you ever heard the saying “you are what you eat”? Let me tell you, that saying could not be more true. I am sure you have noticed that if you eat greasy, heavy foods that you end up feeling heavy, bloated, and even greasy. Now, I bet you have also noticed when you eat something healthy you feel better, energetic and all around great, right? That is why I try to only feed my family the best I can.
I recently had the opportunity to work with al fresco and try several of their products. One reason I was so excited to work with them, is their products are made with only chicken (excluding the pork casing on the sausage) meat.
The first one my family tried was the Dinner Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage. This sausage is made with skinless chicken meat and has 70% less fat and 30% less sodium than pork sausage. It comes in 11 different flavors and is perfect on the grill.
The Sweet Italian (pork casing removed) is my absolute favorite of the fully cooked line and they are perfect for quick and easy weeknight dinners. With these on hand, I can have dinner ready in 30 minutes or less. I love that they are tender and juicy when cooked with or without the pork casing. We also tried the Sweet Apple and the Spicy Jalapeno sausages and are anxious to try some other flavors.
The second product my family tried was the Fully Cooked Uncured Chicken Bacon. This bacon is made from chicken thighs. It has 70% less fat and 30% less sodium than pork sausage.
My family was impressed with this bacon including my husband who frowns at any bacon that isn’t pork. While I still prefer turkey bacon, I found this to be very flavorful and I love the crispy texture.
The third product my family tried was the Fresh Chicken Meatballs. These meatballs are made with panko breadcrumbs, which gives it an amazing Italian taste.
The fourth and final product we tried were the Gourmet Chicken Grillers with Caramelized Onions. Yes, I bet your mouth just watered. Even typing the name makes me hungry. These have a great garlic and smoke flavor and are perfect when cooked on the grill or in a grill pan.
I usually don’t buy frozen patties, but I must admit that these are pretty tasty. These Gourmet Chicken Grillers are moist and flavorful so long as you don’t overcook them. And they have just the right amount of seasonings.
