Accept It

First things first. Accept the fact that your man loves watching football and nothing is going to change that. If you won’t let him watch football at home, he’ll just head to a sports bar or a friends house. In other words, he’s going to watch it one way or another. Just accept that for three to four months a year, your husband is going to be obsessed with football.

Make Time for Date Night

Granted your time to squeeze in date night is limited during football season. If your husband watches college and NFL football, you may have to shoot for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. However, you still need to make time to have date night each and every week. It may be the only time you get his full attention during the week.

Find Your Own Hobby

This is so, so important. While your husband is watching football, do your own thing. For example, you might take up a new craft or catch up on your reading. You could even spend time pampering yourself with bubble baths and facials, etc. Another night of the week, you could go out with the girls. There are so many ways you can have fun without your husband.

Host Football Parties

One way to get through football season is to embrace it. Host a football party on Sundays so that you can spend time with other wives or girlfriends that have very little interest in football. The women can have fun chatting and catching up, while the men grunt and yell at the TV.

Show Interest

Last, but not least, show interest in your husbands favorite teams. You may not like football, but it means something when you try to learn something about the team just so you can talk to him. If he spends time showing interest in your hobbies, shouldn’t you do the same?

Football season doesn’t have to be a sore spot in your relationship. There are so many ways to make football season enjoyable for yourself. Whether you spend the time doing something you love or host a fun party, you’ll learn to love football season as much as he does.
