- When serving fresh fruit, brush a little lemon juice on sliced apples and pears to avoid browning.
- When measuring flour, spoon it into your measuring cu and level it of with the flat side of your knife.
- When a recipe calls for eggs. always use large size, unless otherwise noted.
- Always crack eggs into a small bowl before adding to other ingredients, to avoid any shell droppings.
- For great flavor and texture, always use butter if the recipe calls for it (margarine can contain a lot of water).
- Never substitute baking powder for baking soda and vice versa, although both help your batter rise they can give different results.
- Always Preheat the oven 10 to 15 before placing food in oven.
- Never Preheat a cookie sheet, hot cookie sheets may cause batter to spread.

I liked first and last tip. Fruit browning is a big problem.
You can use a smidge of lemon to stop potatoes from browning, too, if you need to cut them up before you cook them!

My mother used to always say most of the tips you have are common sense. I never had common sense, and yes to this day need to be reminded of some of these things!
I have done this mistake of exchanging baking powder and baking soda. My dough smelled bad with my wrong experiment. It developed bitter taste instead of fluffiness.
