Eye of the Soul Interview with Terri Rochenski

Eye of the Soul Author Terri RochenskiWelcome to Eye of the Soul Author Terri Rochenski! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions about your life and book!

Terri started writing stories in the 8th grade, when a little gnome whispered in her brain. Gundi’s Great Adventure never hit the best seller list, but it started a long love affair with the fantasy genre.

Today she enjoys an escape to Middle Earth during the rare ‘me’ moments her two young daughters allow. When not potty training or kissing boo-boos, she can be found on her back patio in the boondocks of New Hampshire, book or pencil in hand.

Eye of the Soul Interview with Terri Rochenski:

Welcome to Cuzinlogic! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?
I’m a farm girl who grew up in the middle of nowhere and had imaginary friends within my brain to keep me company. My love of writing started in the 8th grade when one of those voices, a little gnome named Gundi, decided his story needed written down.

Please tell us in 20 words or less, why we should read your book.
Based on real-life experiences, I hope the message of this 2-book series will touch other people’s heartaches.

What’s your favorite quote about writing or reading?
There’s an English word for a beginning writer who never gives up. Published. – J. Konrath

What was the hardest part about writing this book?
Digging up emotions and thoughts from my own life that inspired Hyla’s journey.

Describe your writing environment for us.
I normally have a clip board & pen in hand while sitting on either the couch or a lawn chair as my children play. It’s tough to get more than a few sentences written before boo boos need kissing or sippy cups need refilling, but that’s alright. My kids are my life.

eBooks, hardcovers or paperbacks and why?
As long as the story is engaging and I can’t put it down, I don’t care format I hold in my hands.

If you could go back and talk to yourself when you were writing your first book, what advice would you offer?
Be entreatable. Humble. You don’t know it all.

What time of day do you like to write? How is it different than a single title?
When the birdies wake and my children are still slumbering.

What are your favorite movies and TV series based on books? Did you read the book before or after you saw the movie or TV series?
Lord of the Rings, and yes, I read those books countless times before Peter Jackson brought the trilogy to the big screen.

What do you do in your spare time?
Between being a stay-at-home mom to 3 kids, living in a construction zone, and finding time to jot down a few lines for whatever story I’m working on, there IS no spare time. Shoot. I haven’t even been out alone on a date with my husband since April 2012. How sad is that?!?

If you could get front row tickets to watch any performance live, who would you like to go see?
David Phelps, the best tenor on the face of the earth.

What can your readers expect from you next?
Pool of Souls #2, Secret of the Souls, releases in Oct. 2014!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Only that I hope you’ll give EotS a chance and share your thoughts with others so they might be inclined to read Hyla’s story as well.

Thanks Terri, for joining us today and good luck with Eye of the Soul!

Escape.

That should be Hyla’s first thought as her people are chained and imprisoned for no imaginable reason.

Instead, Hyla finds herself traveling through a land void of Natives, with human soldiers pillaging in desperate pursuit of her, and in search of the mystical Pool of Souls—home to the one man who can save her people.

Or so she believes.

Led by her faith in the deity Fadir, Hyla is met along her journey by Jadon—a human male and fierce King’s warrior, and his childhood best friend Conlin—one of the few Natives aware of his Fadir-given Talents.

Protected by Jadon, guided by Conlin, and with an unfailing belief in the purpose of her pilgrimage, Hyla carries on.

Like her, though, another searches for the Pool, and should he gain access first, everyone she loves, and everything she knows, could be lost.

Forever.

Thanks for stopping by & commenting! Sorry I’m a bit late to the party – a newborn & 2 other sick children the past 2 weeks. Life, huh?? :)
