Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nationwide movement founded by the National Dairy Council and the NFL. Just exactly what is it? Well, it enables people from all walks of life to put ideas and plans into action that help to make schools a better place for all children.
It also stresses the importance of community members involvement and encourages children to eat healthy and get active. This fun program gives children the incentive to become part of the program, get fit and get recognized for their efforts. Not only does this help children to build self-esteem, but perhaps will put them on the road to a healthy lifestyle as well. This is why I’m proud to partner with Real California Milk for this sponsored post.

Everyone in the community has the power to make local schools better than they already are. Become a participant in this great national program, I know that I did, and I am very satisfied that my input is helping children to develop both emotionally and physically.
Choosing good for you foods and being active for at least 60 minutes qualifies participating children. Help spread the message about childhood obesity and share some of the successes of the Fuel Up to Play 60. You could also contact your local Dairy Council to spread this message throughout California. As you can see, children and our local schools benefit from your involvement!
Schools in California participating in Fuel up to Play 60 may also be eligible to receive $4,000 through the Spring Grant Funding Program, which helps to support their wellness and health programs. To apply for the spring grant, simply fill out the Funds for Fuel Up to Play 60 application to get your school involved. Grant deadline is June 16th, so act NOW!
Some of the competitive programs can be found in the 2015-2016 Fuel Up to Play 60 Playbook. Here parents and other community members can initiate a healthy breakfast program in their local school or help in organizing the 100 Mile Club, as well as other similar programs. The 100 Mile Club challenges students to run, jog, or walk 100 miles at school to improve their well-being and overall health.
Central Valley schools and their students who are in grades 4th-10th can also participate in the Get In The Game Challenge which runs until May 22nd. Participating schools that have the highest number of student sign-ups are rewarded with a celebration event. Those that are chosen based on student sign-ups will take part in the celebration event which will feature special guests from the San Francisco 49ers. The special guests could be a former player and/or an active player. The event will also include a visit from mascot Sourdough Sam. There will also be food and games at this special event.
Furthermore, a stadium brick in the Levi’s Stadium Fanwalk in Santa Clara, CA will be dedicated to the winning school.
The Fuel Up to Play 60 was activated by Real California Milk on behalf of 1450 dairy families and the National Dairy Council who know that it is important for growing children to be active and eat nutritious food, such as – low-fat and fat-free dairy, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits on a daily basis. Learning what foods are most important for providing the proper nutrients and vitamins to a growing body and mind will give these children many health benefits. Help stamp out childhood obesity by becoming involved!
If you are interested in participating in this wonderful program, and your school is not a part of the program as of yet, initiate it! You can do it, I know you can.
