As a society, we seem to always be looking for the next best thing. We don’t take a step back and go back to our roots with things that are made with love. This is exactly what Homemade with Love by Jennifer Perillo is for me. There are recipes that are delectable but also are inspired by the girl-next-door favorite. This cookbook is going to have a place in your heart if you take the time to pick it up. It will be a great add-on to the collection that you may already have or it could be the start-up to a collection. Jennie actually has a blog called Jennie’s Kitchen where there is a lot more cooking and recipe fun.
Homemade with Love: Simple Scratch Cooking from In Jennie’s Kitchen
Jennifer Perillo has always written about cooking from scratch, buying local and also eating at home. These things are all important to her and she wants them to also become important to you too. She shares with you in this story about farmers’ markets and also some know-how that you can use whether you are a working parent or even one of those busy cooks out there. She has been writing since 2006 and has developed her recipes over the past 15 years. She kept going strong even after she lost her husband, Mikey, in 2011.
Inspirationally enough, it was the gathering of her family around the table that gave her a sense of healing. She thinks that you need to feed both the nutritional and spiritual parts of your body to find that perfect balance. As a developer of recipes and a personal chef, Jennie has crafted up some shortcuts for you such as homemade all-purpose baking mixes that you can use for bread, muffins and cupcakes. This will make your life so much easier with your baking!
Thanks to Homemade with Love you get to try a wide range of recipes like Orange-Scented Waffles, Carrot Fennel Soup, Lentil Ricotta Meatballs, Drop Biscuit Chicken Pot Pie, Strawberry Blender Sherbet, and Lemon Buttermilk Doughnuts. My nieces recently got a kick out of helping me recreate Jennie’s Drop Biscuit Chicken Pot Pie. We all agreed that they taste so much better than the frozen ones you buy at the store. Plus they are much more fun to make.
I love that each recipe includes an ingredient list as well as easy to follow directions to suit all home cooks, whatever your experience.
Her major message is to just gather around the table and linger there for a while! Homemade with Love: Simple Scratch Cooking from In Jennie’s Kitchen is definitely a cookbook that I recommend you add to your cookbook library this fall..
Homemade with Love is available at Amazon and national bookstores.
