Today we are excited to introduce you to The Fallen Cowboy by Mina Beckett.
The Fallen Cowboy
Love heals all wounds…
Out of commission saddle bronc rider Jess Coldiron is putting his horse skills to work by serving as the Executive Director of the Promise Point Horse Rescue Ranch.
Jess’s gift for taming wild broncos and pretty women has taught him that both can take a man from zero to ninety in seconds, shake him senseless, and damn near kill him if he landed the wrong way. And Jess had. So bumping anything but heads with the beautiful Mallory Montgomery ? his sister-in-law’s estranged sister ? is out of the question.
Mallory came to Santa Camino, Texas, to fulfill her mother’s dying wish of reuniting with her sister, not to fall for a cowboy with a Texas-sized chip on his shoulder about the limp in his swagger and the woman in his past. But the ruggedly handsome, once famous bronc rider has a sexy smile and a fiery touch that ignites a spark in her every time they’re together.
Mallory knows there’s only one way to get Jess back in the saddle, but she wants more than he’s willing to give. And seducing the fallen cowboy may cost Mallory her heart.

The Fallen Cowboy Excerpt:
Jess closed the door and headed down the hall to the ER entrance. When the automatic doors opened, he drew in a deep breath and covered his face with both hands.
It was turning out to be one hell of a day.
Mallory’s voice drew his head around. She was sitting on a concrete bench just outside the entrance, chewing on her thumbnail.
“With McCrea. He’s taking her to our parents’ house to spend the night because he’ll be out of town.” He pointed to her thumb. “You’re going to gnaw that thing off.”
She gave him a tense smile. “It’s a nervous habit.”
“You don’t have to be nervous. I’ll be with you tonight, so you can give that little digit a rest.”
“Oh no, you won’t.” She dropped her hand and rose to her feet, ignoring him as she searched the parking lot for the crossover. “Where did you park?”
“Yes, I will,” he said, pointing to the left side of the parking lot. “I promised El I wouldn’t let you out of my sight.”
Mallory stepped off the curb and started walking towards the crossover. “I don’t need a bodyguard and Brandi is expecting you in San Antonio.”
“How’d you know…?” He trailed after her, fighting a curse from the pain in his thigh. “You read my texts?”
She used the remote to unlock the door. “You mean those cheesy porno scripts? Yeah, it was kind of hard not to. It was like I was in some kind of weird and smutty trance.”
Jess chuckled, surprised by this side of her. “You’re just jealous.”
She cut in front of him and opened the driver’s door. “Of the cheesy porno script or that you’re getting laid and I’m not?” she asked before getting in.
Mallory’s brash question caught Jess off guard. The toe of his right boot caught on the heel of his left boot, tripping him. Luckily, the backend of the crossover was there to stop him from plowing face first into the pavement.
He hurried to get in before she backed out. Given his present state of pain and stiffness, that wasn’t an easy task. But he folded into the passenger side without groaning too much.
“You’re a pretty woman ─”
“Aw…” She smiled sweetly and turned the wheel.
“You sweet talker.”
“So why aren’t you getting laid?” he asked, unable to fathom why a woman like Mallory was having that sort of problem.
“Because I’m very picky about who touches me.”
Being selective with men meant Mallory was smart and knew what she wanted. “Nothing wrong with that.”
She braked abruptly at the end of the row, prompting Jess to reach for his seatbelt.
“Which way do I turn?”
“Oh.” He laughed, enjoying the irony. “Now, you trust my directions?”
“You’re right.” She turned left and gassed it.
“I’ll figure it out on my own.”
He held on to the dash. “Or you could just pull over and let me drive.”
She tapped her forefinger against her chin.
“Let me think about it… Ah, no. I like being in control.”
“That could be why you’re not getting laid,” he said, grabbing the door handle as she sped down the road. “When’s the last time you drove something with four wheels?”
“It’s been a while.”
“I thought so.”
“Are you,” she whipped the steering wheel around, slinging Jess against the door. “One of those men who like their women docile and obedient in bed?”
Again, her question caught him off guard.
“Hell, no,” he objected. “But I don’t like being covered in chocolate and tickled with feathers either. I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to sex.”
“Interesting,” she said, narrowing her eyes as she watched the road.
“What’s interesting about it?”
“Have you ever been covered in chocolate and tickled with feathers?” she asked, shooting a quick glance his way.
He did a double take. Was she serious? She looked serious, but he couldn’t tell. “No.”
She arched one dark eyebrow and twisted her lips into a sexy smirk. “Then how do you know you won’t like it?”
Beautiful was into chocolate and feathers?
Jess was having trouble pulling air into his lungs because he was thinking about his palm smearing warm chocolate over the smooth, firm contours of Mallory’s bare breasts. The light tickle of a feather across her hard nipples…
She braked again for the four-way stop, propelling Jess forward. Then, she hit the gas, and Jess went back against the seat with a whomp.
He cleared his throat. “Are you?”
“Am I what?”
“Into chocolate and feathers?”
“Would it shock you if I said yes?”
Damnation. Mallory was into chocolate and feathers. “Honestly,” he said, attempting a deep breath.
“Nothing you say would shock me.”
Jess liked a woman who spoke her mind, but Mallory’s frank attitude about sexual fetishes surprised him. And this wasn’t how he envisioned the two of them getting to know each other.
“Make a right here,” he instructed as they approached the stop sign. “I need to go by my place first for a shower and a change of clothes.”
“Let me take you back to the ranch.” Her tone was much more mellow than before. “You can get your truck and be on your way to see Brandi. My sister never has to know you didn’t spend the night.”
“I’d know,” he said, pointing to the right. “Turn here and then left at the fence.”
She let out a long sigh and made the turn. “Okay, fine. Have it your way.”
“Don’t pout. It’ll be like a sleepover. We’ll eat pizza, tell ghost stories, and play Truth or Dare.”
“I can’t wait,” she said blandly.
