Who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich? How about a three cheese grilled cheese with bacon sandwich? I don’t know about you, but the only thing I love more than ooey gooey cheese is bread. So it should come to you as no surprise that I absolutely love grilled cheese sandwiches. I can still remember the first time I made this delicious sandwich for lunch. The first bite made me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Who am I kidding, I still do. I may just be greedy, though!
Before I get started on how to create this quick and easy sandwich, I’m going to tell you about a great contest.

Fueling Good – these sandwiches should incorporate ingredients that help boost your energy such as healthful fats, protein, fiber and iron.
State Favorites – whether it’s a well-known sandwich in the state you reside, or a must-have local dish that can transition into a sandwich, celebrate your state pride by re-creating these state favorites with better-for-you ingredients.
In addition to the grand prize, Oroweat® will choose a recipe in each sandwich category with the highest score and the winner will receive a $5,000 category prize. Isn’t that awesome? But wait there is more. Oroweat® will donate one loaf of bread (up to 100,000 loaves) to Feeding America for each valid entry or vote received during the online voting phase of the contest. That alone should make you want to go cast your vote September 26th – October 23rd.
Inspired by the Creative Classics category, I used the 100% Whole Wheat variety to make a Three Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The nutty flavor of the bread combined with the cheese is oh so tasty! This is a cheese lover’s grilled cheese.
Three Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Bacon
2 slices of Oroweat® Whole Grain 100% Whole Wheat
1/2 teaspoon butter, softened
1 thick slice of Cheddar cheese (double if thin)
1 thick slice of Pepper Jack (double if thin)
1 thick slice of Muenster cheese (double if thin)
2-4 slices of turkey bacon
1. Cook turkey bacon according to directions on the packaging.
2. While the bacon is cooking, heat a griddle or pan over medium heat.
3. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice of bread in a pan buttered side down. Stack the cheddar, pepper jack and muenster cheese on top. Add the bacon, then top with the other slice of bread. Grill sandwich over medium heat, turning once and cook until bread is toasted and cheese is melted, about 2 minutes.
4. Serve immediately with a salad, or your favorite fruits and vegetables on the side.

- Always use a good melting cheese when making a grilled cheese, like American, Cheddar, Fontina, Gouda, Gruyere, Muenster, and Provolone.
